hey guys its adam from london
Posted on 7/24/2007 by Maroon5hello everyone! so we just got back from yet another tv appearence in london...we get to play wake up call now which is a nice change. im really excited about this song. its really different for us. which brings me swiftly to my reason for posting a comment today. occasionally one of us will check out what you crazy kids are discussing on the message boards. i just wanted to clarify a few things and speak my mind briefly about a couple of things that have been bothering me. as you know we love our fans. and i love seeing a real community forming around the band and our music. there is nothing more exciting than people appreciating the thing youre most passionate about. I LOVE YOU ALL so much. i mean that with all my heart. about a month ago some really nasty things were said about my girlfriend. someone informed me that she had been called a cheap very *friendly* person, or something to that affect. apparently the comments were erased. but either way, i have no tolerance for nuts like that. she deserves an apology. not even the tabloids are that nasty. and one more thing id like to clear up is the wake up call video. this song has been very controversial even amongst the band. i just want to let you guys know where i was coming from when i wrote it. ive always been fascinated by what drives people to certain extremes. death and destruction are as much a part of life as love and happiness. i ALWAYS write such personal lyrics and to be honest i was quite bored with myself at that point. i wanted to be a bad guy. i wanted to play a role. and thats what wake up call is. as you'll see in the video the crime does not go unpunished and in NO way am i making light of or glorifying violence. we made a great video that i stand by. exposing some of the more unpleasant realities of human nature is interesting in my opinion. thats it. just feel as though i had to say something. anyway i dont discourage any kind of dialogue. opinions are beautiful things. please just dont say hurtful things about eachother or any of the band members. (or their girlfriends) and please reserve judgement on wake up call until you see video. thank you...ok now i feel better. thanks for listening. awesome.
LOVE

SICKO

yo... happpy night time from NYC... we're here for less than a day to do some TV things and then we fly back to LA to do some more TV things...
So many TV things... So much time too...
The show with the Police was nice...
Hey... have you seen Sicko? I watched it a few nights ago... pretty shocking to see the state of our health care system in the U.S. The worst part about it all is the level of corruption in the government that allows the insurance companies and the drug companies to profit by cheating the people that our government is supposed to be serving... and I don't believe that we have to just stand for it...
Why can't we all get together and decide that we want to reorganize our society? I've been talking to some doctors that are family friends about what they think is wrong with the health care system, and asking them to give me some ideas about what kind of things people should be demanding from their politicians and hopefully this movie will spread a lot of awareness and spark a lot of brainstorming...
you can watch it for free here at
www.tv-links.co.uk... If that link doesn't work... just search for Documentaries at that site and Sicko should be there...
Amazing... just read a post michael moore made about how he doesn't mind bootlegging of his movies because he makes them so that things can change and the more people that watch it the better...
so... good luck.
Let's stay positive...
also... here's an e mail i got with a petition about the recent Live Earth festival...
Subject: Sign the Live Earth Pledge
Hi,
Live Earth was a unique moment that now presents us with a unique choice.
Do we use this unprecedented opportunity to organize a global movement that will last beyond the concerts themselves? Or do we let the moment pass?
That's why I'm asking you to join me in signing the Live Earth Pledge, which calls for a 90% cut in global warming pollution.
The pledge is a simple way to show that the political will exists to take the bold steps necessary to end the climate crisis. But it will only be effective if millions of Americans speak out and add their voice.
Sign the Live Earth Pledge today by visiting:

How Much Can a Koala Bear?

12:20:37AM... I’m here in Sydney Australia for the Third time... so they tell me... I only remember two times... and there is a reflection of the amazing Flaming Lips movie Fearless Freaks playing on the window behind my computer... soooo strange... what a life... it takes all kinds I guess... such a party on stage... and their fans... “this is f**king Oklahoma pride!”
I’m drinking water... I’m almost all packed... leaving at 6:40 am for a faked tv show performance of Makes Me Wonder... then ... then... then... who knows?
The plan is to go home tomorrow... LOS ANGELES... and our plane will just hover over the earth while Wednesday slips away from us... we land six hours before we take off...
I just erased the last four sentences... so boring...
He just sang... “you realize the sun doesn’t go down... it’s just an illusion caused by the earth spinning round...”
Wayne Coyne the singer... the artist... have you heard about the parking structure project? 40 cars with tapes of assorted noises and sounds all started at the same time to create a spontaneous orchestral experience... and then there was the album Zaireeka... 4 CD’s that you have to play at the same time to hear all the instruments of the songs playing at the same time... and they drift... and you can turn the stereos down to hear a different mix everytime you get at least one other friend (unless you use both hands and both feet to start to the stereos) and the commitment to do it...
Now he’s talking about death... the death of his father... he says he was just a man that got sick and then died... there’s not a whole lot of philosophical stuff around that...
“nothing teaches you about death like experiencing it in that close proximity...
it can’t help but to change you. ... It’s made me more serious about getting the most out of life... when there’s things I want to do.... I just go and do it... because I don’t know how many days any of us have left... you sort of see how all this is temporary...”
so... this is it...
I loved it when we had the countdown going for the release of our album... I would sometimes watch the milliseconds and seconds and minutes ticking away and it kind of made me wish that there a countdown clock on my life... what if you knew? Those last couple days and then hours and then minutes and seconds would be so intense...
I like this as a premise for a movie... that in the future as the universe starts to collapse back in on itself that time becomes very transparent and that scientist can actually predict the exact number of seconds that your life has left based on your DNA and so if you want to you can pay to have the scan done that will tell you how much time you’ve got...
Would you do it?
?
Right now... I’m gonna say... NO... it’s tempting... but the thing that holds me back is that myth of Icarus and the wings and the sun melting them and his fall... and the painting by Bruegel... and the poem by Auden about all that... and I don’t really want to be the one to perish in hubris while life carries on... But that’s kind of scared talk isn’t it... didn’t I just finish a movie called Fearless Freaks?
My latest motto is from the Dylan documentary No Direction Home... something the singer Liam Clancy once said to him....
“Remember Bob... No Fear... No Envy... No Meanness...”
and I guess it really is because apparently I wrote that already into my last tour diary...
well... it’s still true... hallelujah.
Do you ever leave a DVD playing on the TV after you’re done and the Menu music plays over and over again and you don’t really know how much time has passed?
That’s kind of like being on tour...
